Inspiration For The Week: Vol. 8

I’ve been hard at work in the studio all week working on my Final Major Project for my degree, you can follow along with my current working project here, and I’m definitely in need of some inspiration to keep my head fresh and in a creative zone.

This past week has honestly been quite a bizarre one, mostly because I spent the latter half of the week trying not to be blown away like Piglet in Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day! Living on the eleventh floor wasn’t the greatest experience in the middle of a storm, but I must admit I love the wild wind and the sheer force of the weather when it’s in a stormy rage. There’s something so magical about watching the sky descend into chaos, and feeling that strong wind hit your face, and I loved watching the water of the River Soar outside of my window being whipped up in waves.

I don’t know what’s the most enticing part of this scene; the stunning dress, the intimate wedding reception dinner, all of the flora and fauna, the gorgeous house behind, the contrast of the palm trees; the list just keeps going!

I discovered this artist’s delightful Instagram account this week, and I’ve fallen in love. The digital watercolour drawings of these landscapes have captured my heart, and I adore their art style so much. I just want to crawl into the painting and sit and read under the willow tree.

I mentioned a couple of posts back, you can read it here, that I love intricate stationary, and this piece has truly stolen my heart. The gold stamp, sheer illustration and gorgeous typography all work together to create such a nice effect.

Another piece from the artist I discovered this week, and I think I love this one even more. There’s something so inviting and calming about the soft colour palette and little house hidden in the hills.

Parterre‘s collaboration with Weezie Towels dropped this week and it’s just so darling. The gorgeous prints, on both the bed clothes and the robes, not to mention the eye-catching mural on the wall behind, make this picture so enchanting.

WHAT I’M READING…

Little Women is my current read, and I’m loving it. It’s one of those classic novels that I can’t believe I’ve gone so long without reading, and I’ve been loving getting into it over the past few days. Although I’ve already watched the 2019 film adaptation, so I know the story, I’ve loved getting to know the characters in a new way through reading them and perceiving them in my own imagination. It’s been especially cosy snuggling up with a good book while Storm Eunice has been raging on outside this week!

WHAT I’M WATCHING…

I’ve been watching the second series of Love is Blind this week; it’s one of those shows that you love to hate, it’s just so bad it’s good. I’m not sure if I agree that a couple would be ready for marriage after only knowing each other for such a short amount of time, let me know what you think in the comments below!

WHAT I’M LISTENING TO…

I’ve been feeling quite nostalgic in my music taste this week so it’s been an eclectic mix of music that my Mom loves to have on in the kitchen, and some of my favourite country romance songs that I’ve loved for many years. My top five picks would have to be: ‘I Did With You’ by Lady A, ‘California Dreamin” by The Mamas & The Papas, ‘Twilight Time’ by The Platters, ‘Bloom’ by The Paper Kites, as well as ‘Vienna’ by Billy Joel, which has really spoken to me over the past few days as it’s been such a hectic time of my adult life.
