Pieces I’m Hoping to Invest in in 2021

With Christmas and New Year behind us, and a sparkling new year ahead, I always find myself dreaming of new pieces I’m hoping to pick up over the coming months, and begin assembling spring and summer outfits in my head. I don’t find winter to be particularly inspiring when it comes to style, as I’m much more of a cute spring dress and heels kind of girl, so the moment that it’s acceptable to start planning future outfits I’m going to grasp the opportunity.

Over the past few months I’ve been cultivating a few more premium pieces, such as my pearl Loeffler Randall bag, seen here, Castaner wedges, seen here, and a few new jumpers, such as this one. Investing a little more into pieces I’ve been wearing on repeat has made me love my wardrobe even more, and there’s something so special about looking down at your outfit and knowing that you worked hard to save up the money to make the purchase. With that in mind, I’ve started planning some ideas of what I’m hoping to invest in over the course of 2021.

Hunter Wellies

Since the initial lockdown back in March a daily walk has become an important part of my routine; I’ve always loved wandering around my gorgeous local park, but with literally nothing else to do it soon became the highlight of my day. I’ve kept the habit up all through the winter, as it has now become a chance for me to escape my studio apartment and get some well needed fresh air, but with winter comes rain and mud, which is where wellies come into play. I’m not one for owning very practical shoes, so I’ve been trekking through the mud and puddles in an old pair of black Chelsea boots, and my feet are crying out for something a little more hard-wearing. I love the classic black, but I’m also loving this fun gingham style.

A Picnic Set

A classic wicker picnic basket has been on my wishlist ever since I was a little girl. I used to envision myself sat in the English countryside on a tartan blanket, sipping from a glass of lemonade with a wicker basket beside me overflowing with fruit, bread and cake. Although I’ve had my fair share of picnics they’ve never quite lived up to my expectations, which I’m putting down to the fact that I’ve carried my food there in a Tesco bag, not a cute basket! This rose lined one is adorable, and I also love this classic picnic hamper. If you’re also looking for a picnic basket, and feel like splashing the cash a little more, this one from Kate Spade is so dreamy.

New Denim

I’m slowly getting into the habit of wearing jeans, after rejecting them from my wardrobe for so long. I think I’ll always feel more confident in a denim skirt over a pair of jeans, but that doesn’t mean that I can’t wear a great piece of denim from time to time. The main thing stopping me from reaching for jeans is the fact that I really struggle to find a good fit; I’m so petite that most jeans just drown me, and I’ve even ended up wearing jeans from the kids section in the past! I’ve got my heart set on a flattering pair of straight leg or mom jeans style blue denim; I do have a pair of mom jeans in my wardrobe already, see them here, but they’ve got a paperbag waist meaning that I always have to wear a belt with them, which can disrupt outfits. This pair from & Other Stories looks so flattering, as does this Topshop pair.

Straw Bag

It’s evident in any of my summer content that I’m a lover of a straw bag, but thanks to a lot of different outings my favourite straw bag is falling apart. I thought I’d use the chance to invest in a more premium straw bag, that will hopefully last me for years to come. I’m in love with this fabric detailed straw tote bag, as well as this customisable tote from Etsy. This one is meant to be a children’s bag, but how adorable and fun is this!
