Vol XVIII: An Exciting Collaboration

My highlight of the week was definitely the launch of the Earthbound Collection, a collaboration between myself, Created by Chloe Grant, and sustainability-focused upcycling brand Queer Loop. The collection consists of four different pyjama/loungewear sets, inspired by the four elements, all created using deadstock linen, in order to make something beautiful out of others’ discarded material and help detract from the amount of textile waste polluting our wonderful planet. You can read more about the collection here!

WHAT’S INSPIRED ME THIS WEEK

As a fashion designer, and general creative type, I am constantly seeking inspiration wherever I am, and these posts are a way to document what has ignited something within me this past week. Whether its artwork I’ve seen online, photography that moved me, or a collection of colour in nature that kick-started a creative idea in my head, I’ll be sharing four ideas that have brought me joy in the past seven days.

R. READING

I finally finished Things We Never Got Over by Lucy Score, which I didn’t particularly enjoy. I found the bad-boy-good-girl trope quite unrealistic, but I know it’s a real hit with all of the romance girlies on BookTok, so maybe it’s just that this genre isn’t my cup of tea. There is a sequel but I don’t think I’ll be reading.

E. EDUCATING

The end of the month meant it was time for an Intimate Conversations in Clo3D monthly session, with Kristen Anderson and her team.

Each call I participate in just gets me more and more excited to enter the world of 3D design and pattern-making, once I’ve got a laptop that can run it.

P. PLAYING

I’m still utterly obsessed with The Tortured Poets Department (obviously!) and I’ve had it on repeat. My current ones on repeat are But Daddy I Love Him, So High School, The Smallest Man Who Ever Lived and I Hate It Here, but I can see that list changing weekly!

O. OBSESSING OVER

I’ve never really listened to much of Sabrina Carpenter’s music but I, along with what feels like the rest of the world, am utterly obsessed with Espresso. Anytime my brain goes quiet all I can hear is ‘I’m working late, ’cause I’m a singer’, and it instantly makes me want to burst into song and dance.

There’s nothing better than a fun girly pop hit!

R. RECOMMENDING

After coming home from travelling and depleting my bank account it’s not secret that your girl is running on a very tight budget.

However, one thing that has truly saved my bank account as an avid reader, has been Kindle Unlimited. I’m saving money on what I would usually spend on copious amounts of books, and still allowing myself to indulge in as many books as I usually would. Plus, the curated selection has led to me reading books I would never usually reach for, which has sometimes been a real blessing!

T. TREATING MYSELF TO

My current favourite way to unwind is by using my oil pastels, so I’ve been making sure that I set aside time to actually use them. Art, and other things that I enjoy, often get swept aside in a busy life, so labelling them as ‘little treats’ encourages me to let myself have a little fun!
