Sweet Magnolias has fast become one of my favourite shows; since it aired during lockdown, offering us some much needed sweet distraction, I fell for this darling southern belle of a show, and as I’ve just finished season two I’m full of love for this show all over again. It will come as no surprise that I’m inspired by the style and aesthetic of the deep south, and Sweet Magnolias offered us it in bucket loads. From flowing floral dresses to more casual blouses styled with denim, I’ve had a whole load of wardrobe inspiration from the outfits of Maddie Townsend, and so many more of the characters!
I can’t wait for spring to fully settle in so that I can get back into my summer dresses and espadrilles, but for now I’ll have to settle for a slightly more covered up Sweet Magnolias inspired look. Honestly, the day where I’m living in a place that has early springs hot enough to ditch my tights for will be a great day!
For this look I’ve paired an embroidered floral cotton blouse with jeans for a sweet look, with a subtle springtime element. I love the little pops of green, and they really bring out the green tone of the shoes to really tie the look together. Speaking of the shoes, they are my favourite part of the whole outfit, and I’m so excited to feature them here on the blog; created entirely out of recycled plastic bottles these slip on shoes are as sustainable as they are cute! I can see these being the perfect shoes to pop on as springtime arrives, especially as so many of my spring tops and dresses feature green shades in floral prints and ditsy patterns.
All of the pieces below look like they’ve stepped straight out of a small town boutique, and they’re all from sustainable and ethically made companies. From sweet summer dresses to fun accessories with that special southern charm, I want to add each and every one of these pieces to my wardrobe.
