A Guide To Living Life Like A Nicholas Sparks Novel

Dress – SheIn (this one comes in and out of stock, but see a similar style here) // Cardigan – Primark // Espadrilles – SilkFred // Bag – eBay

As a hopeless romantic I am a self confessed Nicholas Sparks fanatic; I’ve read every book, I’ve watched every film and basically convinced myself that if love doesn’t make me feel like I’m right in the middle of one of his novels, then it can’t be true love at all. It’s not just the fearless, perfectly romantic love that inspires me though; the gorgeous outfits and blissfully calming soundtracks continue to inspire and influence my life everyday.

DRESS LIKE YOU’RE IN A NICHOLAS SPARKS NOVEL

The classic and feminine fashion sense found in nearly every single Nicholas Sparks book and film is a big reason why I am inspired by them. From Ally’s timeless dress and cardigan combinations in The Notebook, to Amanda’s gorgeous lilac floral dress in The Best Of Me, a lot of my style is drawn from iconic, classic characters like these, and dressing in a darling, feminine way is a sure fire way to feel like you’re right in the middle of a romantic movie.

Classic dresses

Classic dresses make up most of my wardrobe, and they are practically the material embodiment of a Nicholas Sparks character. With so many different cuts and colours to choose from there truly is a classic dress out there for everyone. I’ve just ordered another classic dress, from SheIn, one of my favourite places to shop for timeless inspired fashion, and this will make the perfect feminine dress for summer.

When choosing a classic dress I would either go for a block colour dress, see my current favourite one here, a floral number, like the one I’m wearing in this post, or a classic print, such as polka dots or stripes. See more about my tips on finding the perfect spring dress in my blog post here.

Cardigans

Cardigans are the perfect layering pieces to create a classic, feminine look. They can be paired with everything from dresses, to a simple outfit with a pair of jeans and a tee, and immediately make it look more darling and feminine. It’s also a great way to keep yourself a little warmer on chilly spring or summer days, or to add an extra layer when the temperatures drop in the evening.

I’m currently trying to expand my collection of cardigans, and this lemon coloured one is the latest addition to my wardrobe. My favourite place to go for cardigans is Primark, especially as they’re only £5.50! I currently own cardigans in pink, yellow, navy and light blue, but I’m looking to pick up a beige one and one in lilac. I’m also looking to pick up an affordable option from Primark and then add little details to it myself, such as pearl beading or ribbon detailing around the wrist.

Espadrilles

Espadrilles are an easy way to make any outfit have an instant vintage edge, and they look so pretty for spring and summer. I’ve been wanting a pair of espadrilles for so long, and I eventually decided on this pair from Linzi via SilkFred; plus they were a steal at only £28. See me styling them in two casual looks here and here.

Other than espadrilles I also love wedges, see me styling up my navy pair here, and low block heels; which look effortlessly chic, but won’t kill your feet. You can see me styling a pair here.
