Blogmas Day Eighteen – The Real Meaning Of Christmas

Yesterday I visited Lichfield, as you may have seen on my Instagram stories, where they had a light show on peace and the true meaning of Christmas. It was held in the gorgeous setting of Lichfield Cathedral, where I visited earlier in the year for a different light show.

It can be so easy to forget the real meaning of Christmas amidst all of the festive madness, but it’s important for us to recollect on what Christmas really means. Christmas, as a Christian festival, is a sign of new hope and love in the world. Even if you’re not a Christian, or religious in any way, you can still take away the message of Christmas and use it in your own life.

At the minute the world is so torn apart with hate, war and pain and Christmas is a great release from that for so many people. For me Christmas has always been a very happy time and I love how for just one day everyone joins together to help others and make sure that everyone has a lovely day.

This Christmas, although I know it may be hard, try not to get too caught up in the festivities and present swapping. It is a time for hope and love, not wealth and sadness; this year try to focus on the people you’re with and the memories you’re making and aim for a truly love filled Christmas.
