How To Style: A Tweed Jacket

Tweed jackets are notoriously classy, immediately evoking thoughts of the great style of Chanel for so many people. Tweed is one of the biggest trends of the season and a tweed jacket is one of the simplest and easily worn tweed pieces available. This blue and black coloured tweed jacket from Romwe is a perfect example of an affordable, high street price piece that can immediately elevate an outfit and make it look so much more high end, just through the way you style it up.

PAIRED WITH A MATCHING TWEED SKIRT

One of the most classic ways to wear tweed is in a beautifully tailored tweed suit. This Romwe tweed suit is nowhere near the price point of a Chanel suit, in fact it’s off by a couple of thousand, but the main style principle remains the same; a tailored tweed suit in a classic material that is designed to accentuate the female body whilst also challenging the typical view of a woman and femininity. The hints of royal blue within this suit add a subtle hint of colour and switches it up a little from the traditional monochrome suit.

PAIRED WITH A SKATER SKIRT

For a more youthful, playful look you can pair the tweed jacket with a black skater skirt and blouse. It’s not quite as formal as the full tweed suit, but still has an air of class and business-wear to it, which is crucial to creating a sophisticated outfit. Black skater skirts are such staple pieces in anyone’s wardrobe, especially if you’re trying to create a girly, preppy style and they can be styled up with so many things.

PAIRED WITH JEANS

Pairing tweed jackets with jeans is a new take on this style, which uses a much more modern approach to a very classic inspired look. I find that tweed jackets often pair best with black jeans, as it is a very neutral colour. Also, most tweeds often have the neutral black colour running through it which ties in with the colour of the jeans. To match the slightly cropped nature of this jacket I’d go for a high waisted pair of jeans and choose a straight leg or skinny fit as the jacket is quite boxy and you don’t want to pair it with another loose fitting garment. Tighter jeans will accentuate your curves on the bottom half of your figure whilst the wider fit of the jacket hints at them on the top of your body.
