Mad About Plaid

I haven’t been very pro-active with my blog recently, which was beginning to get me down; but I promise I have good reason! At the end of September I started studying Contour Fashion at De Montfort University, so, with the madness of freshers week and the beginning of assignments, my life has become a little hectic. However, now that life here as a student has started to settle down a little, and feel a bit more routine, I was itching to jump back into blogging and start creating a bunch of autumnal content. So I thought, what better way to kick off autumnal posts than by speaking about plaid? This gorgeous and versatile fabric is a staple in my autumn wardrobe, and it is a necessity if you’re looking to create a sophisticated and stylish look for the cooler months.

This Zara dress, which I wore to death last autumn, was one of the first things I grabbed from my wardrobe when the temperature started to drop. Its high neck, belted waist and neutral plaid makes it a perfect autumnal piece, and was one of my favourite pieces last year. Belts are something that I’ve really begun getting into over the past few months and this circle belt is incredibly in again this year; combined with the voluminous sleeves and shoulders, this is an incredibly on trend piece and I can’t wait to style it up again over the next few months.

The plaid pairs perfectly with classic nude and black coat, shoes and accessories, and will fit perfectly into any wardrobe. Plaid skirts, such as the one I’ve mentioned below, are also great for pairing with a neutral trench coat and pair of block heels for a classic and feminine autumnal look. I love pairing plaid skirts with rust and burgundy coloured roll necks, such as this one, for an autumnal coloured look.

Another trend I’ve been loving recently is headbands; whether it’s a thin alice band or a chunky headpiece I love how vintage they look, and they can instantly make any outfit pretty and girly. The brown cord one I’m wearing in this post is from Primark, but I’ve also been shopping at independent stores for hair accessories recently.
