No Christmas makeup look is complete without red lipstick. It is notorious for its ability to add a touch of glamour and festiveness to any look and is the perfect colour to pop on your lips for festive parties, Christmas dinner or on the daily throughout the festive period. Recently I’ve been wearing red lipstick on its own, without even wearing foundation, and I love how it instantly makes me look ready for the festive period.
I personally prefer a red lip with a slight blue undertone, compared to a very warm toned orange undertone. I feel like this cooler toned colour is more similar to that classic Hollywood red lip colour and it is easier to stop it straying into a very orange, coral colour palette.
AVON True Colour Lipstick in the shade Red is my go-to red lipstick and that doesn’t change throughout the festive period. It has a shiny finish, which makes your lips look so healthy, and it can last for hours. I’m wearing it in these photos, and I love how it looks. If you are more of a fan of a red with an orange undertone then I highly recommend the Bourjois lipstick in the shade 13.
Before applying red lipstick I always make sure to prep my lips before applying red lipstick, as dark lipsticks do sometimes stain. I often put on a layer of Chapstick, before adding a red lip liner in the same shade as my lipstick to act as a good base for my lip colour.
