For those of you who don’t know, I work as a freelance sustainable intimate apparel designer – in short, I design underwear, swimwear and nightwear that doesn’t harm the planet! Whilst studying Fashion & Sustainability Management at the European Institute of Innovation for Sustainability I met Brenda, founder of upcycling company Queer Loop, who shared my vision for a more ethical fashion industry. Us meeting led to a collaboration between me and Queer Loop, utilising upcycled fabrics that they’d sourced, and creating a pyjama and loungewear collection inspired by the four elements.
I am absolutely over the moon with how this ultra-sustainable limited-run collection has turned out, and I can’t wait to see it on Queer Loop’s beautiful customers! Each piece has been created using very limited deadstock fabric, and there’s only a couple available in each colour palette, or ‘element’, meaning that it’s going to be an incredibly unique piece for whoever ends up being lucky enough to own it.
I am utterly obsessed with each and every piece but my favourite has to be the Air pyjama vest, adorned with embroidered 3D dragonflies. The boxy unisex fit covered in the dainty dragonflies combines mine and Brenda’s aesthetics so perfectly, and shows the true genius of two artists collaborating together; this collection has brought out the best in both of us, whilst focusing on our shared goal: sustainability.
