A Plaid Look For Autumn

Navy roll-neck – M&S // Plaid skirt – eBay // Coat – H&M (old, similar here) // Chelsea boots – Primark (old, similar here) // Bag – Primark (old, similar here) // Pearl necklace – 21st birthday gift

Autumn has definitely arrived; the leaves are turning red, there’s a chill in the air and I am reaching for my tights and Chelsea boots once again. Plaid skirts are a staple in my autumnal wardrobe, as you’ve probably noticed from my brown plaid skirt that I’ve worn a million times, so I was overjoyed when I found this navy one for an absolute steal (only £8.50) on eBay. Plaid tennis style skirts are very popular right now, across a whole multitude of different styles and aesthetics, so I thought I’d share how I’m styling up this very on-trend item in a feminine and classy way.

I recently found this M&S navy roll-neck massively reduced on eBay, at only £5.99, and knew I had to pick it up. I always know that any piece of M&S knitwear is going to be high quality, so it’s a perfect choice for something I’m going to wear on repeat throughout the season, and I’m so tempted to pick it up in more colours. The colour is the most perfect shade of blue; I much prefer wearing navy over black in the winter time, as I feel it’s not quite so harsh against my pale complexion, and I’ve already styled this up in so many autumnal outfits. Paired with the plaid skirt it creates a girly, preppy look; I almost feel like I’m in St Trinian’s when I’m wearing this!

I was a little unsure on what jacket to pair this outfit with, as I don’t currently own a casual navy or black coat, but I think my cream faux fur piece was a perfect choice as it brightens the outfit, and draws out the soft, lightness of the pearls. This coat is a couple of years old from H&M, but I’ve found a very similar alternative here.

Looove this look! Very modern day Rachel Green! Thought the faux fur coat went well with it too. Perfect alternative to a peacoat or trench!
