My Go-To Girly Bags

A bag is the perfect accessory to finish off an outfit, and it’s a great way to add a girly touch to your look, especially with a beautiful pink or floral bag. Unfortunately a lot of my favourite bags, that I wear day in, day out, which are pictured above, are now sold out, but I’d still love to share my favourites with you, where you can shop similar ones and what I look for in a bag.

What I look for in a bag…

When buying a new bag there are a few things I look for to ensure that this new bag will fit into my wardrobe well and work great for me.

DOES ITS COLOUR MATCH MY WARDROBE?

The colour of the bag is very important, as this is what will make it match/not match the other pieces in your wardrobe. To pair with my wardrobe the most common colours I go for are pink, nude, cream and brown. These neutral, earthy tones match the very nude and classic colour palette of my style, meaning that the bag will match a lot of my pieces.

IS IT BIG ENOUGH TO CARRY EVERYTHING I NEED

For most people a tiny bag is no issue, but as someone who has a few things that I have to carry around at all times, the size of a bag can be a deal breaker for me. Every bag I own has to be big enough to carry my epi-pen, so that means adios cute overly small bags that we saw everywhere last summer. If it can’t carry my epi-pen, I can’t wear the bag, which is why I own so many cross-body bags that are on the slightly larger side as they need to be small and practical enough for me to wear on a daily basis, but large enough to hold my medication. Ideally my bag will also be able to carry my camera as well for days that I’ll be out photographing my outfit, or filming a YouTube video, but if it is a smaller cross-body I can let this slide.

CAN I FIT IT INTO MY MOST WORN OUTFITS?

When buying a bag I picture it with my most worn outfits of the moment; if it doesn’t match then I tend to put it back. I know that I’ll be wearing those outfits non-stop, so if I’m not going to reach for my new bag to wear with them, then chances are it’s going to sit in my room unworn, which means it isn’t worth the money.

IS IT SOMETHING NEW AND UNIQUE?

Another thing that may make me buy a bag is if it is something I’ve never seen before. It may not fit into my wardrobe right now, but I could definitely create an outfit around it, and it’s just too pretty to put down. An example of this is the gorgeous sky blue bag photographed, which I picked up on my summer holiday last year. The gorgeous floral applique immediately caught my eye and I just knew that it was the perfect statement bag.

My favourite bag of all time…

My favourite bag of all time has to be my Paul’s Boutique Nancy Bag (this style is currently sold out but you can shop the rest of their gorgeous collection here). I picked this little beauty up last September at London Fashion Week Festival and it very quickly became my most favourite bag; I think if I was a bag, this would definitely be me. With its gorgeous white and pink design and classic front clasp this is such a vintage inspired and classy bag and I knew that I needed it the minute I laid my eyes on it.

When I saw that Paul’s Boutique was going to be at LFWF I didn’t really give it a second thought. In my mind I couldn’t help but picture the vibrant and tacky Paul’s Boutique bags that used to be around; that were oh so 2012 with their zebra print panels and neon pink tassels. I definitely didn’t think that it would be my go-to stall in London, but boy was I proven wrong. After a complete image over haul Paul’s Boutique have upped their game and brought their designs well and truly into the much more sophisticated and stylish 2019. From classy vintage styles like this one to edgier black leather numbers adorned with bold blue lightning bolts, there is a design for everyone and I was torn between so many styles when buying this one. Paul’s Boutique bags are also not excessively expensive, and they act as a great gateway designer bag, elevating your wardrobe slightly from the high street but not making you pay hundreds or thousands for a cross body bag.
