Blogmas Day Twenty Three – Countdown To Christmas & Traditions

Christmas Day is merely hours away and everyone is beginning to get excited. When this post goes live there’ll be only one day, six and a half hours to go until the clock strikes midnight and Santa comes down the chimney (if you’ve been nice that is!). I am so excited for tomorrow, I honestly feel like a little kid every Christmas Eve, but I think that’s part of what makes it so special. The innocence of Christmas is one of my favourite parts of it and it makes the whole holiday that much better.

Every household has different Christmas traditions and they are a part of what makes the holidays so special. As it is, in the words of Phoebe Buffay, Christmas Eve Eve I thought I’d share one of my favourite family traditions; new Christmas pyjamas. My ones this year are from Primark and they are not only super snuggly, they’re also absolutely gorgeous. They’re just the right blend of Disney cuteness and girly glam, which just about sums me up. I’ll share photos of these tomorrow on social media so you can have a look!

Every Christmas my family and I do a few things together that have slowly but surely become traditions. Every Christmas Eve we have dinner in the afternoon before attending mass at our local church; we usually attend the children’s mass which is great because it’s a more child friendly, fun service full of songs and even a nativity play. After Christmas Eve mass we typically come home, have crisp sandwiches (anybody else love these?!) and watch a film; this year our film of choice is Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again, which was my top film of the summer.

After the film we put out the food for Santa, a mince pie, a cup of milk and a carrot for Rudolph. I think no matter how old I get I will continue to do this, it just wouldn’t feel like Christmas without it. We also have a photo in front of the tree, with the food for Santa, every single year, which is lovely to keep as a momento every year. Once all that is done we put our little Christmas present bags on the end of our beds and tuck ourselves in for a slightly early night, all ready for Christmas Day.

What’s your favourite Christmas tradition? Tell me in the comments below!
