When I opened this face mask as a present on my birthday I was instantly excited. Anything that’s sparkly makes me so happy, I’m lame I know, and this mask definitely promised to satisfy all my glittery needs. I received quite a lot of face masks for my birthday, as people wanted to give me a hand with Face Mask Friday, and this was the one I was really drawn to, to try first. As well as it being glittery it also promises to clear out pores, something that really interested me, as my skin has been significantly bad over the past few days.
The application of this mask got a little messy as the mask is incredibly sticky, so I’d be prepared to get your hands dirty. Once it was applied to my face however it stayed put and didn’t shift around my face or get stuck in my hair, which was a huge bonus. I was quite surprised by the perfumed scent of this product as I’m used to quite plain formulas as not to irritate sensitive skin, but this face mask did smell incredibly nice, and the scent lingered on my skin even once the mask had been removed, which was very pleasant.
The packaging didn’t give a specific time to leave the mask on for, only saying to leave it until it had set, and it took about twenty minutes in total. Although it’s not quite as glittery as the packaging may lead you to believe it is still incredibly sparkly, and I’m sure I’ll be finding specks of glitter in my bathroom for weeks to come! It was comfortable whilst on and didn’t make my skin tingle or irritable, in fact it created quite a cooling, soothing feeling. All of this changed, however, when it came to removing the mask, the peeling nature and intense stickiness of the product meant that this mask had practically welded itself to my face, making it very hard to remove. Pulling it off my skin felt like removing a plaster, and was actually quite painful at times, which consequently left my more sensitive areas of skin very red and hot; something which has made me reevaluate this product.
Would I re-use this mask?
I may try this face mask again when my skin isn’t quite so inflamed and sensitive, as it felt very nice on my skin and unclogged my pores effectively, it is just the harsh removal process that put me off. This mask does make a nice gift as the glitter is quite a novel idea and I would definitely recommend it to people with less sensitive skin which is less likely to react to the tugging mask or perfumes.
