Behind The Scenes Of A Snowy Blog Shoot

By now I think most people realise that blog photos aren’t all perfect and, like most things in life, there’s always going to be a blooper reel. In the case of this snowy shoot the majority of it ended up being a blooper reel; but it was worth it for the laughs! My friends, Bex and Eden, and I headed down to our local park to find a secluded, untouched place to take these pretty, snowy photos and actually ended up stumbling upon a beautiful brook surrounded by virgin snow. We took advantage of our beautiful surroundings and I posed next to the frozen stream, sat on fallen trees extending out over the water and sat in the thick snow. It’s not often that you find such beautiful, unspoiled natural surroundings so we were very lucky to find this treasure hidden at the back of a section of the park. We’ll definitely be heading back here in the summer time for picnics by the edge of brook!

Although we managed to get some very beautiful photos the shoot definitely wasn’t plain sailing, in fact it was probably the most problematic blog shoot I think I’ve ever done. I’m not going to spoil the video for you but I am practically an endless stream of You’ve Been Framed videos behind the scenes of my blogger shoots and this one is no different. In fact, this is the worst kerfuffle I think I’ve got myself in since starting my blog! But do not fear I powered through and continued taking lots of lovely photos.

To get that perfect shot it sometimes takes a few people, in this instance I had Eden hoisting me up on to trees, holding my hand as I attempted to jump over the stream and sorting out my hair whilst Bex was behind the camera sorting out lighting and instructing me how to stand so that I didn’t look too odd. It’s much more than posing for a few seconds while someone snaps away.

I had to basically accept the fact that I was going to end up covered in snow as I sat down in it under a bowed tree and sat on a fallen tree across the water. If I was looking for comfort and warmth then I definitely wouldn’t find it at a snowy blog shoot! My one saving grace was that I had a warm outfit on; unfortunately I cannot link all of the pieces I’m wearing as some are no longer available but I’ll try and find alternatives for most things that I mention. This roll neck jumper dress from Primark is particularly snuggly so I’d definitely recommend popping down to your local Primark and nabbing one before they bring out all of their summer collections.

We were probably out taking photos for about an hour and half which doesn’t sound too long, but in the freezing temperatures that Britain has been experiencing recently it was definitely long enough! Another important thing to remember about blogging shoots is that they take time, I’ve had to devote whole weekends to them before and that isn’t a too uncommon occurrence. Blogging takes so much effort and dedication, a lot of which is dedicated to the photography side of things.

Of course, as well as taking these lovely photos I also had the chance to make some wonderful memories with two of my closest friends whilst having fun in the snow. I’d definitely recommend taking friends along with you to a blog shoot, or having a friend as your photographer, as you can kill two birds with one stone. Get loads of pretty content, whilst also making memories with those who mean a lot to you!

Make sure to watch my vlog of this snowy shoot that’s up on my channel now! Trust me, it’s worth the watch just for the comedic content…

Love Chloe x
