I have been introduced to so many products in 2018 but it really takes a lot for a product to become one of my firm favourites. All of the products listed here are ones that I use on an almost daily basis and the ones I feel that I couldn’t get by without.
MAKEUP
The Ordinary Full Coverage Foundation
I first picked up this full coverage foundation from The Ordinary store in Covent Garden back in February. I’d never tried anything from The Ordinary before, despite hearing lots of things about it online, so I was very excited to test this out. I fell in love with this foundation the minute I used it and it has been my go-to foundation ever since; I’ll definitely reach for it if I want my look to be long lasting and really cover up my imperfections. Although it’s not exactly what I’d call full coverage it does cover imperfections and leaves you with my perfect ‘your skin but better’ finish.
Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara
I first used this mascara back in 2014 but stopped using it to try out other brands and formulas. After a lot of different mascaras and a long bout of my eyes reacting to different products and multiple eye infections (not fun!) I went back to my trusty Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara. This has now taken up permanent residence in my makeup bag once again in 2018 and I can’t see it leaving anytime soon.
Soap & Glory Archery DIY Brow Bar
I’d never been one for doing my brows but when I got sent this by the lovely Soap & Glory PR Team I thought, what was the harm in trying? I’m never going to be one of those people with super perfect brows which are permanently plucked and filled in, but I like how this product just adds a touch of colour and volume to my brows.
AVON Magix Setting Spray
I have been using this setting spray for as long as I can remember and it’s an absolute bargain for a product that really works. I spray this on my face every morning to secure my makeup in place and it helps it stay in place all day.
SKINCARE
Revolution Skincare Quinoa Night Peel
Revolution’s skincare range completely took over my skincare routine this year as I introduced two new serums into my routine. The first, my favourite of the two, is the Revolution Skincare Quinoa Night Peel which honestly completely changes my skin in one night. I’ve never known a product to be so effective so fast and if I need a quick skin re-boost I know that I can reach for this for quick and trustworthy results.
Revolution Skincare Blemish & Pore Refining Serum
The second Revolution Skincare serum on this list is the Blemish & Pore Refining Serum, which I love to use, especially if I have a lot of blemishes or a flare up. Though not as fast working as the Quinoa Night Peel it definitely gets the job done and effectively clears my skin, something I love as I’ve always struggled with blemishes and I used to have acne.
HAIR CARE
System Professional Luxe Oil
I received this as a prize in a giveaway and it has been a part of my hair care routine ever since. My hair can very easily become very coarse and unruly, but this, along with the hair mask I’m about to mention, keeps it under control. Also, on a side note, this oil smells heavenly and if I could just wash my hair in it I would.
AVON Naturals Grapefruit & Passion Fruit Hair Mask
My holy grail product right here guys, at one point I thought AVON had discontinued and actually cried (not even an exaggeration). This saved my hair back in 2014/5 when I was ill and I haven’t stopped using it since. I can’t envision another hair mask ever taking the place of this one, but who knows! For now, this is my top hair mask of 2018, and many years before that.
FRAGRANCE & NAIL VARNISH
Vanderbilt Eau de Parfum
This was my official perfume of the summer; I bought it whilst on holiday in Menorca and wore it the entirety of my trip. My mom actually wore this exact scent the first time we visited Menorca, back on my first trip abroad in 2007, and whenever I smelt it I’d be reminded of my first taste of the foreign sun, sea and sand. When I saw it on sale in a little perfume shop near my hotel this year I knew it was fate and picked myself up a bottle as a momento of one of the best summers of my life.
Barry M Gelly Nail Polish in Pink Lemonade
Another product that has been in my collection for many years, however this one I had actually pretty much forgotten about up until this summer. This year however I pulled it out of my nail varnish box and wore it on my toes all throughout the hot weather. The light colour accentuated my tan (if we can even call it that) and it looked so nice with my light coloured summer wardrobe.

I’ve tried the foundation and a toner, but that was pretty harsh so I only use that from time to time, I really want to try out more of their serums though! xx
