Autumn can be a tricky time if your favourite colour to wear is pink, but I assure you that you can still dress very girly and classy, you just have to select the right pieces. Deeper autumnal shades are still wearable, even for someone whose wardrobe consists of 90% white or pink pieces, and they can be styled up to still look incredibly fresh and feminine. Below I’ve shared five different autumnal outfits that I love to wear throughout this season to give you some outfit inspiration, or even for you to buy some of the pieces and recreate the outfits yourself. If you are inspired by any of my looks make sure to dm me on Instagram or Twitter so I can see!
This pink and white look has become one of my go-to outfits recently as it’s just so comfy! This white woolen sweater from Primark is so soft and falls so nicely, it honestly doesn’t look like it was under £5. The ‘v-neck’ detail means that I could add a decorative lace cami underneath if I wanted to, and still maintain very feminine, almost suggestive neckline. I’ve linked a similar alternative down below but the full collection of these v-neck sweaters were still in Primark last time I popped in so I’d head in store to pick up your own.
The pink cord skirt is already such a cute and girly piece, with its heart shaped pockets and pearl detail buttons, so it didn’t take much to add it to a very girly autumnal outfit. If I had to choose one skirt to sum up my personality I’d definitely go with this one, it’s possibly one of the most girly pieces I’ve ever seen. It almost takes inspiration from very cute Japanese gyaru styles with its ultra girly, anime-esque design.
These pink brogues are from Primark but I’ve linked an alternative down below. Brogues are perfect for when you need a smart-casual shoe as they can fit any tone depending on how you dress them up/down. These light pink ones are subtle enough to act as a nude and not detract from the outfit, but bold enough to still be visibly pink, which is the perfect mix. It may sound stupid coming from me, the queen of pink, but do try not to go too over board on pink. Too many different shades can clash and look a bit stupid, so try and aim for one shade and stick with neutral, almost nude toned, pinks for a perfectly classy, feminine look.
Pinafores are such great pieces for layering purposes, meaning that you can wear them in the summer with a light top underneath, but also in the winter time with a heavier item, such as this jumper. Corduroy is a massive trend this season so this white cord pinafore should definitely be on your wishlist. I find cord so much softer and more wearable than denim, I can’t even describe why, and I think it looks so perfect combined with the soft fabrics found in wintery jumpers and sweaters.
This white pinafore is such a neutral colour that it can be combined with all sorts of different coloured jumpers and tops; I went for a nude coloured jumper and nude boots for a subtle, autumnal toned outfit. The combination of white and nude makes the white look even brighter, leading to a very fresh, clean look and brightens up the whole outfit. I love the pearl decorations on this jumper, across the shoulder, as I think it’s such a high end, classy addition to the knitted piece.
These beige boots match the jumper perfectly, to keep in with the nude theme, and they’re also beyond comfortable. They’re lined with very soft suede, meaning they feel like an absolute dream, and they have such cute design details. There are sweet little bows at the back of the heel, similar to that seen on Stuart Weitzman boots, and it’s little design details like that which really elevate the look.
Wine and burgundy is one of my main go-to colours for autumn and this outfit is a perfect example of how to wear it in a feminine way. My wine coloured corduroy skirt is one of the most worn pieces in my wardrobe at this time of year and I’d definitely recommend adding one to your wardrobe, if you haven’t already (plus, this one is only £17.99!). They’re so easy to style up, whether it’s with a blouse or a jumper and it has truly become a neutral, basics coloured piece within my autumnal collection of clothes.
Another core piece for my autumnal outfits is a pair of brown chelsea boots, such as these ones from Primark. They’re a great staple shoe, especially if you don’t want your boots to be such a harsh colour as black; black chelsea boots are also very prevalent in my winter wardrobe but I tend to pair them with my darker outfits. I find that brown tends to work best with more earthy toned outfits, whereas black blends well with monochrome and block colour ensembles.
I’ve linked some very similar alternatives to the pieces I’m wearing down below so you can recreate this outfit, as the majority of these pieces are from last year’s collections. Though the boots are still available in Primark! They actually have a lot of variation when it comes to boots as the minute, allowing you to choose between pointed toes and round toes, which I know can be make or break for shoes for some people.
Who doesn’t love a snuggly oversized jumper? They’re a go-to comfortable autumnal outfit for so many people and I’m no different. You can shop this exact jumper from Zara here, or shop a similar alternative down below. The nude colour and short length, makes it a really easy and cute outfit to just throw on for that ‘I just grabbed this from my wardrobe at the last second’ level chic, to achieve an effortless autumnal look. It’s also the exact same colour as the boots I previously mentioned, which makes for an incredibly comfortable outfit. One comment I’d make about this jumper dress is that it is incredibly short, so if you’re not petite like me I’d potentially want to try this on in person to check if it’s a suitable length before purchasing.
Accessories are a great way to instantly make a very bulky, heavy outfit look very feminine and these gold floral earrings are a great example of this. They’re larger and more flamboyant than earrings I usually go for but they truly add a splash of my overdressed signature style to a very laidback outfit and immediately make it look so much more put together.
This look has been described as something out of an Enid Blyton novel, and it’s hard to argue with that. The preppy plaid kilt and classic burgundy roll neck combination looks so classically English, I feel like I could honestly walk into a private boarding school without a second glance; now isn’t that just an ideal aesthetic to achieve?
Roll necks are some of my most worn pieces in my wardrobe and I have too many colours of them to name. From burgundy to black they are perfect tops for the majority of my autumn skirts and they’re great as they keep you warm in the colder months but also don’t mean that you overheat when you have multiple layers on; because no one likes that uncomfortable hotness you get when you walk into a room wearing multiple jumpers, a cardigan and a coat in the middle of winter!
This traditional wrap around kilt is from Primark but I’ve linked an alternative plaid skirt down below. Plaid or tartan skirts are so easy to style up at this time of year and can also end up looking very festive, especially when paired with red colours, which is great as we approach the Christmas season.
There will be a YouTube video up tomorrow including all of these different outfits so make sure that you keep an eye out for that and subscribe to my channel. What is your favourite outfit? Tell me in the comments below!
