I’ve previously published posts on my blog on my morning routine and my skincare routine, full of what products I use to remove my makeup or keep fresh skin, however I’ve not previously shared my hygiene routine. The products I use on myself exceed what I wash my face with, or what I rub on my skin first thing in the morning, and I don’t see many bloggers sharing these products, that they in fact use day in, day out. This post is going to cover everything I use to look after myself and keep myself clean; from what deodorant I use to what I brush my teeth with.
Like most people, my day starts with me hopping in the shower, where I use a few products to wash myself and moisturise my body. The first thing I reach for in the shower may actually surprise some people as it’s as plain and simple as you can get; I wash the sensitive areas of my body using Johnson’s Baby Soap, as it is gentle and softly cleanses the skin without irritating it with perfumes and chemicals. I only tend to use this on specific parts of my body though and for the remainder of my body, where I want more scent and moisture, I rotate between using Radox Moisture Shower Creme and Soap & Glory Clean On Me (yes that’s me on the bottle!). When washing my face in the shower I tend to use Garnier Pure Active Intensive Blackhead Exfoliating Scrub, with blueberry extract, as it works deep into the pores and you can physically feel it cooling and working your skin; it gives an intense clean and it has visibly improved my skin. I use a different face wash in the evening as a part of my evening skin routine, if you would like a post all about my updated skincare routine please comment down below.
Once I’m out of the shower I need to moisturise my face and body, as I’m prone to getting dry skin. Throughout the summer months, to add a little bit of a golden glow, I use the Garnier Summer Body lotion, in the shade light, which acts as a gradual tanner and also smells so summery and fruity. As we enter the winter months however, I tend to move away from this body lotion, as I prefer to embrace my pale skin in the colder months, and instead I reach for Soap & Glory Righteous Butter, as it is just so rich and creamy. Plus, the original pink scent just can’t be beaten! On my face I use Garnier Botanical Day Cream with Rose Water; I’ve been using this on my face for over a year now and I love the combination of the sweet feminine scent, and how creamy it is on dry skin.
After trying out a range of different deodorants, and being deterred by their scents, I eventually settled on the Right Guard Xtreme Invisible deodorant. I’ve been using this everyday for about three months now and it keeps me smelling nice all day long, even through the heatwave we had, and I’d definitely recommend it if you’re not a fan of strong smelling deodorants as this one is very soft and isn’t overpowering. It doesn’t clash with any perfume I wear, which is a problem I found with some other popular deodorant brands.
Once my face and body is sorted I move on to my teeth; a part of body care that I don’t see many people talking about. I’ve just started using this toothpaste and teeth whitening set from Nano and I’m excited to share my thoughts on it with you all; I will be posting update photos of the impact it has on the colour of my teeth on my Instagram stories as time goes by so keep your eyes peeled for that. Their Whitening Toothpaste has enamel repairing properties, which is great for me, and anyone else, who drinks a lot of fruit juice, or other acidic food or drink, as enamel can be worn away by things like this, without us even really noticing. Alongside using their Whitening Toothpaste I’ve also been applying Whitening Strips, to encourage whitening directly on to the teeth, and Teeth Whitening Gel which you apply into a mouth tray and insert on to your teeth. I’ve always felt a little self conscious about the yellowing on my teeth and I’m really hoping that this Nano range will be able to tackle this problem and improve the colour of my teeth, as well as improving the healthiness of them by working on my enamel. I definitely prefer using an electric toothbrush over a manual one, I sound like a dental advert saying that but it’s true, and my toothbrush of choice is one from Oral B. The rotating brush head gets into the nooks and crannies in my mouth and works to thoroughly clean my teeth.
That sums up everything I regularly use to keep myself clean and healthy. Self care and hygiene products are important parts of our daily routines; what’s your favourite hygiene brand? Tell me in the comments below!
