When gearing up for a new season I always sit and plan out outfits for the coming season, reevaluate my own personal seasonal style – to ensure that my outfit planning isn’t being led by fast-fashion advertising and/or micro-trends – and then do a deep dive on Depop and Vinted to find pieces to compliment the autumnal pieces that I already own and love in my own wardrobe.
As a fashion blog that leans away from over-consumption, and instead promotes mindful shopping habits and the joy of curating a sustainable wardrobe, I love sharing these sustainable edits. Each and every piece in this edit has been found on Depop, meaning that they are pre-loved and sustainably sourced. However, over-consumption is still an issue, even if what you’re consuming is bought secondhand, so, as always, if a piece doesn’t truly fill you with joy then maybe give this one a miss.

Burgundy has been a staple in my autumn wardrobe for many, many years, but it is truly set to be the colour of the season this autumn, and I am in love. I’ve been wearing my burgundy mary-janes day-in-day-out and they would style so perfectly with so many of these pieces, including this gorgeous shirred gingham top from a small business on Depop. This could be styled with a black silky midi skirt for a classy look that would work for a night out, or even in the office, or with these beautiful corduroy trousers for a more casual look. As the temperature drops I would pop a long sleeve white turtleneck under the shirred top, pair it with the corduroy trousers and some dark pointed leather boots for a warm-toned wintery look that’s just as comfortable – but so much more exciting – than a t-shirt and jeans.
Textures, particularly velvet and corduroy, add a little touch of excitement to an outfit, especially in the autumn time, and one easy way to add them is through trousers. I am in love with this pair of high-waisted Levi’s trousers in a rich navy blue, and the subtle flare is so chic. For a 70s inspired look I would style these trousers with a statement blouse, such as this wide-collar ARKET one, and accessorise with warm hues of golden jewellery. Again, this would look so cute with statement leather boots, and I love the idea of combining the navy with the deep burgundy of these boots.
One look I am looking to introduce into my wardrobe this season is layering quilted vests over midi dresses; I’ve been on the hunt for a quilted vest since last autumn but I’m pretty petite and I’ve struggled to find one that doesn’t swamp me. This beautiful denim one from the one and only Damson Madder is a beautiful option and, due to its denim fabric, it is ultra wearable and versatile. I would style this up with a long sleeve cream dress, burgundy mary-janes, burgundy hair accessories, and a statement burgundy bag, or fun tote bag.
