An Incredibly Exciting Update

July brought with it some of the most exciting news of my entire life, in fact I actually cannot quite believe that I am writing this post, as what I’m about to say always felt like something I’d dreamed about but could never actually imagine bringing into existence: I am showcasing work at New York Fashion Week.

My love for sustainable fashion, particularly fashion that is upcycled from discarded garments, is well documented, so when I saw Remake put out a call for upcycling designers to submit their portfolios I was incredibly intrigued. After being recommended to apply by the head of the magazine I write for, I decided to put myself out there and submit my graduate collection for consideration; little did I know that out of the many Remake ambassador applicants I would be selected.

The show, inspired by the verdant greens, vibrant hues and delicate petals of flowers, will be held at The Delancey in NYC this September, showing off ethical fashion at its best. Looks curated by the Remake team, and made up of upcycled and secondhand pieces created by ethical designers, will take to the catwalk, proving that Fashion Week does not have to be centred around consumerism and over-consumption in order to be inspiring, fun and fashionable.

I am so proud to be a part of something that promises to have such an important impact within the world of fashion, and a real chance to change what the future of Fashion Week looks like. I’ll be covering the show for People over Product magazine, so make sure to read the September issue, and keep up with our social media, to see more!

For so long I doubted my own talent and creative ability after not being selected to show my full collection at my graduate fashion show; even now, two years down the line, I still feel a pit in my stomach when I think about it. However, I do truly believe that what is meant for you will never pass you by, and through a lot of hard work, and building back up faith in myself, I now can’t quite believe that I will be showing my work at New York fricking Fashion Week. It’s a true lesson in trusting in the journey, for everything that seems like a loss you just have to have faith that something better will always come along.

See you soon New York, New York!

Love Chloe x
