I wrote a version of this post for pieces I was searching for in springtime, and although I’m still on the look out for those pieces, I thought I’d update it with some more pieces I’m looking for as we transition into summer.
Ahead of each season, I make a Pinterest board to plan out style ideas, and start putting together outfits from my own wardrobe in the Whering app. This allows me to truly work out what I want to add to my outfit, and (hopefully!) stop me from mindlessly shopping, because over-consumption can still be a problem, even when you’re shopping secondhand.
DENIM DRESS
I’m on a bit of a denim kick this summer; I’ve been wearing my trusty dungarees to absolute death – is anyone really surprised? But after seeing the gorgeous Cecil Dress from Reformation I can’t get denim dresses off my mind. I wouldn’t be adverse to purchasing from Reformation, as they are a very sustainable company, but the hefty price tag is putting me off a little. I’ll definitely have a hunt through Depop and Vinted first!
DENIM BAG
This thrifting wishlist item has also been inspired by seeing a piece that’s slightly out of my budget; that isn’t to say that these brands shouldn’t be charging these prices, I wholeheartedly back small businesses charging prices that truly reflect the cost that goes into creating the beautiful pieces. A great example of this is the Baggy Denim Baguette Flap Bag, which its gorgeous ruffle trim. It’s definitely been added to my bag wishlist, but until then I’m looking to add a similar vibe to my wardrobe using a thrifted denim bag, that I’m looking to upcycle and personalise a little with charms and bows.
GEMSTONE RINGS
The moment that summer hits I crave colour in every outfit I wear, and this year that has manifested in a love for colourful jewellery. I’ve seen brightly coloured gemstone jewellery all over Etsy, and I love the wide array of different rings that are available, all with little pops of colour that catch your eye in the light. My wishlist of jewellery is quickly growing, but I’d love to see if I could find some vintage pieces that match the vibe too, for that extra unique touch.
GINGHAM TOP
Gingham has always felt so summery to me, I don’t know if it’s due to the blue gingham summer dresses I spent my childhood school days in, or the memories it evokes of springtime picnics on pastel coloured gingham blankets, but I see gingham and I think summer. I’ve been loving the rise in Ganni-esque boxy fit tops, with delicate bow details, and I’m desperate to find, or make, one of my own.
