I wrote a very similar post to this a couple of years ago, and since then I have managed to thrift pretty much everything that was on that list, and so I wanted to give it another go for this coming springtime. Spring and summer are where I become the most inspired with my wardrobe; I love layering floral dresses, colourful knitwear, and the chance for my beloved dungarees to make a return, so this transitional period from winter to spring is a very exciting time of year for me.
Ahead of each season, I make a Pinterest board to plan out style ideas, and start putting together outfits from my own wardrobe in the Whering app. This allows me to truly work out what I want to add to my outfit, and (hopefully!) stop me from mindlessly shopping, because over-consumption can still be a problem, even when you’re shopping secondhand.
QUILTED JACKET
If there’s one thing that my wardrobe is lacking in, it’s jackets. I’ve got a fair few winter coats that I love, but for that transitional period, where it’s too hot for a coat, but too cold to brave just wearing a cardigan, I fall short. I love how many different colours and patterns can be incorporated into a quilted jacket, and a lot of them happen to be double-sided, which is even better – it means twice the amount of outfits!
CREAM TOP
A crisp cream top or blouse, that could be paired with my midi skirts, jeans, and shorts alike, has been on my mind for quite some time now, and I’m excited to see what I’ll find secondhand. As it’s such a vague search term it’s sure to deliver a lot of results, including some beautiful hidden gems. Trawling through pre-loved listings excites me, rather than bores me, so I’m sure I’ll have some fun scrolling through cream tops until I find one that truly screams my name.
CHARM JEWELLERY
I am slowly but surely hoping to build a jewellery collection that feels personal, and is, crucially, made well. Gold jewellery that is covered in colourful jewels and funky charms will make such a fun addition to my jewellery collection, and will pair well with my colourful spring wardrobe. I’m not sure if I’ll thrift this, or purchase some pieces from small, handmade jewellery stores, either way I want to invest in something personal and well-made.
COLOURFUL TROUSERS
I don’t typically wear a lot of trousers, mainly because I really struggle to find pairs that a) fit me well as a 5’2 petite woman and b) spark joy. However, I’ve been wearing a (very) old pair of baby pink jeans all throughout winter this year, and I’d love to experiment with bringing in more colourful trousers. I’ve got my heart set on a pastel green pair, and I’m excited to see what I’ll find when thrifting!
