A Statement Shoulder Blouse For Summer

Top – SheIn (exact style sold out, lots of alternatives linked below) // Shorts – Mango (sold out – alternative here and here) // Espadrilles – Castaner (currently discounted to £56) // Bag – eBay

Statement shoulder blouses are such a great choice for more dressed up outfits throughout summer, for those days where you want to look a little bit fancier, but don’t want to overheat in the hot summer sun, and I am in love with this one from SheIn. I’ve had it in my wardrobe for over a year now, in fact I wore it for my birthday dinner last year, and it is one of those pieces I reach for time and time again. Whether I’m pairing it with denim, or more tailored shorts like I have here, it’s such a classy and feminine choice, and I love the silhouette it creates.

Unfortunately, this exact top has sold out, but there are plenty of other fabrics available in the same style, lots of which I’ve linked below. I’ve also included some other beautiful one shoulder pieces that would be great additions to a feminine summer wardrobe; I’m especially drawn to the blue striped bow detail one. That would look stunning paired with a classic pair of white flared jeans and a pair of espadrilles!

I wore this outfit for a day spent with my friend Lucille as we explored Birmingham; it was so refreshing to see my city through a fresh pair of eyes, and I loved showing her all of the canals and old buildings dotted around the city centre. As someone who has lived here all my life I often ignore the pretty parts of my city because I’m so used to them, so it was so lovely to see Lucille pointing out places of interest as we walked around. We stopped for lunch at Pitcher & Piano, which has a gorgeous view of the canal, and absolutely scrumptious food; it’s definitely one of the best places to grab a bite to eat if you’re on the hunt for great food and beautiful views. Lucille raved about the halloumi fries, so if you’re a fan of halloumi with a little bit of a spicy kick, here is the place to go. Simply head for Brindley Place, off Broad Street, and it’s situated just over the bridge.

I seem to have mentioned them in every blog post this summer, but I opted for a pair of Castaner wedges with this outfit, as they’re such a summer staple, and comfortable enough to walk around in the city in all day. After over 10,000 steps my feet hadn’t blistered up like they would usually do in cheaper espadrilles I’ve tried. The rust pink colour really pulled out the rosy hues in the top, and added a pop of colour to the bottom half of the outfit; the ones I’m wearing are currently down to just £56, shop them here.

To add to the summery look I accessorised with a straw bag, this is the incredibly affordable eBay one I wear time and time again, and I think it really completes the summer vibes. It makes me so sad that soon the time will come to pack my straw bags away for another year!
