If you’ve been following me on Instagram you’ll know that I spent last weekend in my favourite European city; Paris. I was visiting there with my university, to attend a fashion trade fair, and had the chance to explore this beautiful city that I’ve been dreaming of returning back to for so long. There’s something just so magical about strolling around Paris, it feels like you are transported into every classic romantic movie you’ve ever seen, and I fell in love with the city more and more with every turn. It’s been almost six years since I was here last so I was very excited to be back! There’ll be a full post about what I got up to in Paris coming soon, but for now I just wanted to share this gorgeous outfit with you.
I wore this for a day of exploring the Louvre, and attending a fashion trade fair, so I wanted an outfit that was comfortable and chic. When dreaming up this outfit I knew I was looking for an extravagant, eye catching piece, and this statement bow top was the perfect choice; I actually picked this one up on Depop, a brilliant place to search for secondhand pieces, but I’ve also found a very similar alternative here. I’ve been using Depop a lot more over the past few weeks, as I’m really trying to focus on sustainability and my impact on the planet. I’m currently aiming to purchase the majority of my pieces from secondhand sources, or from more high end retailers, and I hope you’re as excited as I am to see how this impacts fashion and style here on chloececiliagoescouture. If you are interested in living and buying ethically I really recommend following my friend Nati, here, as she is a big inspiration to me in this whole process. I can’t promise that I’ll go cold turkey on my Primark trips, as I don’t think I’m quite ready for that, but every little change makes a difference, so every little step away from fast fashion helps.
Back to the outfit, bows are such a feminine detail to add to your outfit; I’m often seen with a bow in my hair or a scarf tied in a bow around my bag, and I find them such an easy way to transform a rather mundane piece into a very girly one. I thought I’d pick out a few of the most gorgeous bow pieces I’ve spotted recently, and show you how I’d style them up.
Pink Side Bow Blouse
This gorgeous side tying pink blouse looks so high end, I honestly can’t believe that it’s from Topshop! This would look gorgeous paired with cream pieces, with red as an accent colour; think very Red Valentino-esque. For spring this would also pair beautifully with floral pieces, potentially a sheer floral midi skirt, or a statement pair of floral trousers.
Style it up with…
As I was wearing this outfit to do a lot of walking (we hit over 20,000 steps!) I wanted an outfit that was going to be comfortable, and these cream slingbacks were perfect. The pretty bow at the front of them tied my whole look together, without being too overpowering, and the low heel meant they were still super comfortable on my pretty worn out feet. I added my pink satin pleated midi skirt, as I find midi skirts to be some of the most comfortable pieces in my wardrobe; plus the long skirt can hide a whole magnitude of sins, because who doesn’t indulge on a few too many croissants when in Paris?
I can’t wait to share more of my adventures in Paris with you over the next few days. Until next time, au revoir!
