An Instagrammer’s Guide To… Lagos, Portugal

It’s been quite a while since I’ve uploaded an Instagrammer’s Guide To… post, but I’m back with a new one, all about my favourite place in the Algarve; Lagos! I actually wrote a version of this post way back in 2017, see it here, and it’s crazy to see how different my photography is.

Ponta da Piedade

Find it at 38HJ+RH Lagos, Portugal (Ponta da Piedade doesn’t have a postcode so this is the Google maps plus code!)

Ponta da Piedade is definitely my number one photo spot in Lagos. With its gorgeous cliffs, crashing waves and panoramic views, the Instagrammable photos are endless. I make sure to visit here every single time we’re in Lagos, and the beautiful sights are just as stunning each time I visit. It can get rather packed in summer, particularly during midday and early afternoon, so I suggest arriving early to beat the crowds.

The Old Town

The old town is packed full of Instagrammable locations; it is overflowing with traditional Portuguese buildings, detailing and historic architecture, which will undoubtedly make your Instagram look ultra chic and European. I recommend spending the day strolling around the old town, visiting the little shops and cafes and getting lost in the winding streets of Lagos. Unfortunately I don’t have any photos, but there is also an incredibly pretty castle down the end of the old town, which would make a perfect addition to your feed.

Meia Praia

Find it at Meia Praia, Lagos (it is situated behind the marina)

As I mentioned in my recent post on Lagos, see it here, Meia Praia is our family’s favourite beach in Lagos, and it is absolutely stunning. It’s a gorgeous sandy beach, that is never too overcrowded, and it is even more beautiful at golden hour. If you’re looking for an Instagrammable foodie shot visit Linda The Beach Bar for a photo of your dinner with the gorgeous Meia Praia as the backdrop.

Marina de Lagos

Find it at Edifício da Administração, 8600-315 Lagos, Portugal

The Marina is one of the key points of Lagos, and is also one of the best places to get that Instagram shot. A marina packed full of boats is a classic holiday shot, and Lagos’ marina is no exception. I recommend heading down here at sunset as it is one of the best places to watch the sunset in Lagos; expect gorgeous pink panoramic skies. It is also a fabulous place to stop and get a drink if taking photos gets too much!
