A Date Idea For Every Weekend In February

I may not currently be coupled up for this Valentine’s season of love, wow I feel like I’m on Love Island saying that, but I’m a self confessed hopeless romantic and there’s nothing I love more than a bit of romance, so I thought I’d share a whole load of date inspiration for all of you lovely couples. Alternatively, these ideas could be modified a little to be perfect ideas for catch ups with family or even ideas for spending time with family (Galentine’s Day date anyone?). This post has a list of dates for each weekend in February to keep the love going all throughout this romantic month.

SATURDAY 2ND & SUNDAY 3RD

Saturday Cost: £10-40 on train tickets (+ £100-200 if you decide to stay over)
Sunday Cost: Free

Saturday: Why not kick off a month of dates by doing a little day trip (night stay optional) and visiting somewhere near where you live? I’m sure that you can get to some amazing places in under an hour’s train journey from wherever you live; if you live in Birmingham why not venture out to Lichfield or Stratford-Upon-Avon for the day.
Sunday: If you did decide to stay over at your day trip destination of choice why not spend another day exploring where you are. If not, why not have a duvet day and make a blanket fort at home. A blanket fort is always a good idea and this is a great place to cosy up and watch a few movies with a whole load of snacks.

SATURDAY 9TH & SUNDAY 10TH

Saturday Cost: Free (+ £10 if you decide to get drinks)
Sunday Cost: Free

Saturday: Why not get out of the house and explore your local town or city? One of my favourite places to visit is local museums and art galleries, most of which have free entry. Some people avoid places like these, as they are deemed ‘boring’, but there are many ways to make them more amusing, even if you’re not into art or history. Why not walk around the museum and ‘caption’ the sculptures and paintings, for example ‘how I feel when my ex texts me’ whilst pointing at a sculpture looking disgusted (I did say that I was single!) . You could always make this a competition and see who can think of the funniest one. If you live in Birmingham I recommend visiting Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and the Ikon Gallery in the centre of town. If you do visit the Ikon Gallery you could always go for a drink in Brindley Place afterwards!
Sunday: After a day out on Saturday why not have a more chilled out Sunday? Whip out the board games and challenge each other to a game of Cluedo, Scrabble or Operation.

VALENTINE’S DAY

Valentine’s Day is arguably the most important date of the lot and so this one has to be special. I’d recommend going for a special meal together and splashing out on a nice restaurant, but if you can’t find a reservation at this time you could always stay at home and cook for each other. After dinner why not return to where you had your first date, or first met, and sit and discuss your relationship and everything you love about one another. You could write another letters or poems to swap on this night so that you have something to keep as a memory of a perfect Valentine’s Day.

SATURDAY 16TH & SUNDAY 17TH

Saturday Cost: Free
Sunday Cost: Free/very low cost

Saturday: One of my favourite dates is to go stargazing and it’s such an easy and free thing to do (granted that it’s a clear night). Simply wrap up warm, grab a blanket to lie on and gather up some snacks and head out to a wide open space away from street lights to get a beautiful, clear view of the sky. You can always download helpful stargazing apps if you want to do this all correctly and point out official constellations; if not, why not point out made up constellations and make up fake myths and legends behind them?
Sunday: Most major cities have online treasure hunts that you can download and complete whilst going around the town using clues through road signs and local monuments. Why not download one of these for your local area and go on a treasure hunt? The majority of these are free or incredibly cheap to download.

SATURDAY 23RD & SUNDAY 24TH

Saturday Cost: Under £10
Sunday Cost: £30 (or price for three meals)

Saturday: Spend the day creating scrapbooks or journals documenting your relationship and fill it full of photos and memories. This will be a great way to keep memories of your dates together to look back on in years to come. You could always continue this even after Valentine’s Day for the duration of your relationship. I’d recommend going to The Works for cheap arts and crafts products.
Sunday: Cooking together can be so fun so why not try making a whole three course meal, or alternatively do some baking, and then eat everything you make in a cosy and romantic meal at home. You could also try and make each other’s favourite meals, this could potentially be an even more amusing activity if you’re not a very good cook (like me!).

I hope you have a fabulous month of love! Have you got any plans for Valentine’s? Tell me in the comments below!
