The idea behind this mask is incredibly exciting as, as the name suggests, this mask allows you to get the pore cleansing benefits of a mud mask, with the cleanliness and ease of a sheet mask. Hence the title ‘no mess mud mask’!

This mask actually comes in two parts, to make it easier to fit the contours of your face, and I liked how easy it was to apply. The pieces came with two different plastic packages on to stop you from getting your fingers messy whilst applying this mask, but I still did get a tiny little bit of mud on my hands. The only drawback about this two piece approach is that the bottom part of the mask did not fully cover my chin and jawline, which is one of my problem areas.

This mask promises to reduce the size of your pores, which it definitely did; immediately after removing the mask I could see a visible difference in the size and depth of my pores, especially the ones across my cheeks, which are often large and red. I could also see the excess ‘gunk’ left on the mask that had been pulled out by the mask; this gives you the benefits of a pore strip without the pain, which is absolutely fabulous.

Once I’d removed the mask my skin was left feeling rather tight and stretched, almost as if I was still wearing a mask, which wasn’t a particularly nice feeling. Although my skin felt very, very soft to the touch it didn’t feel very hydrated or moisturised from within. Of course, this is not specifically a hydrating mask, and if I was after that effect there are so many other masks I’d go for, but I didn’t expect this mask to be quite so drying.

Would I re-use this mask?

I really enjoyed how this mask cleansed out my pores and left the open pores across my cheeks more tightly closed, which usually leaves me feeling quite self conscious. However, the drying effects meant that I wouldn’t reach for this mask very quickly; it may be that this mask just didn’t work with my skin type, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend it for those of you with dry skin. However, if you have acne prone or oily skin this mask may be perfect for you, it will decrease oiliness and de-clog your pores, and potentially lead to much clearer skin.

I loooove this series ! I’ve only gotten into facemasks recently – I used to be too lazy about them until I tried lush’s mask of magnaminty + realised that, actually, they’re often worth the effort ! I really love the sound of a no-mess mask + I’m looking forward to discovering some new masks through this series !

Ooh, I do like the sound of a no mess mud mask – as mud masks are a pain to use and I can’t be bothered with the mess that comes with it. I think this could potentially work for my skin as it does get oily and would benefit from some treatment.
