When my friend Niamh organised afternoon tea for her 18th birthday and told me that it was a formal dress code I was overjoyed; formal is definitely a dress code that I can comply with and it gave me a good reason to put on a pretty dress and look fabulous. I hadn’t worn this white long sleeved dress for a while so I decided to drag it out from the back of my wardrobe and style it up in an autumnal way, perfect for this cooler, seasonal weather we’ve been having.
The design details on this dress are truly what make it so beautiful. The intricate lace panels along the bodice, waist and elbows and the tie wrist details, mirror the sort of high end details seen on dresses from brands such as Karen Millen and Reiss and this dress could definitely pass off as much more expensive than it is. Unfortunately, this dress is old season so can’t be purchased but I’ve found a few different alternatives, at different price points, that you can shop below.
To add a hint of autumnal tones I paired the clean, white dress with a burgundy cape style coat and burgundy stilettos. The burgundy cape falls nicely with the waterfall style front and kept me slightly warmer whilst not detracting from the feminine cut of the dress. Some winter coats and capes can look so bulky and, even though they add a layer or two, they completely ruin an outfit, which, for me, just ruins everything. You can definitely look stylish whilst keeping warm and this cape style coat is a great example of this. The coordinating burgundy stilettos create a cohesive and put together look; this suede pair are super comfortable, even after hours of wear, and are perfect for the festive season.
