Winter is on its way and it’s officially over-the-knee boots season. Whether you’re pairing them up with skirts and dresses or putting them on over jeans, over-the-knee boots truly took winter fashion by storm last year and they’re on practically everybody’s wishlist again this time round. They not only keep you warm, they also make you look stylish; what’s not to love? As a petite woman, both in height and weight, over-the-knee boots, despite their practicality and beauty, always seem to be a struggle. They always seem to either be far too long, or far too wide, and after about thirty seconds of walking in them they’ve become too loose and slipped down to my ankles. I’ve decided to compile a list of all of my top tips for buying over-the-knee boots, which can be used for everyone, but particularly if you’re a petite lady, like me.
FIND BOOTS WHICH TIE IN AT THE TOP
Although boots without ties or elasticated tops may look stylish, if you’ve got skinny little legs like me, they are going to be the first ones to instantly start falling down your leg, as there’s simply nothing there to keep them up and attached to your legs. I do love this style of boot though so if you are petite in height, but have curvier legs, these would probably look lovely on you!
GO FOR HEELED BOOTS OVER FLAT ONES
If height is what you lacking then going for flat boots is never the way to go. They instantly make you look a whole lot shorter, whereas heels, due to the illusion of height, make you look not only taller, but slimmer as well. They elongate your legs in a way that flat boots just can’t; in fact I’d recommend getting any boots in heel variety if you can, you may have noticed that this is something I do, as it really helps to boost your height and leaves you looking less short.
TRY THEM ON IN PERSON
To save yourself a lot of heartache, and potentially a lot of money on returns, I’d always recommend trying on over-the-knee boots in person. This allows you to see how far they come up your leg, because no one wants boots that quite literally go up to their knickers. They should end just above your knee, with the maximum length being about mid-thigh, and this is obviously much easier to see in person. Looking at them with the boots right there in front of you also allows you to test the tying mechanism at the top of the boots; does it tie well? Does it hold a knot and not begin to come undone? Does it fit comfortably against your leg with enough tightness to hold? These are all things you should ask yourself before purchasing over-the-knee boots, especially if you’re petite.

Loved this post as usual Chloe! Being 5″2 I’ve always struggled finding over the knee boots but managed to find the perfect pair last week! Short leg struggles! 🙁
I’ll have to check out some of these ones too and grow my collection!
