After looking at every single collection that graced the catwalk this Fashion Month I’ve compiled a giant list of all the trends that we can expect to see next season and what will be taking over our high streets next Spring. If you’ve missed any of my reviews of the different Fashion Weeks you can catch up here: New York Fashion Week, London Fashion Week, Milan Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week. After looking at this list and really thinking what trends I’m likely to buy into I’ve created almost a shopping list for next Spring; I will try and link to pieces that are available now but many trends may not appear in the shops until next season. From ruffled dresses to plastic raincoats this is everything that’s on my wishlist for next season…
SHEER BLOUSE
The use of sheer materials was a trend that we saw across the entirety of Fashion Month and something that is almost certainly going to crop up next season all over the high street. For me, the most easily wearable item that fits into this trend, without revealing too much skin, a sheer blouse. Whether I wear this with a simple bralette underneath to hint at the skin beneath, or layer it over a top, a sheer blouse will create a very classy and feminine outfit.
TULLE SKIRT
Also tying in with the sheer trend I’d love to buy a gorgeous layered tulle skirt; the layers of sheer material combine to create a layered, gown like skirt and it is a great, girly way to wear this seductive trend. I can pair this with a range of different tops and shoes to create all different sorts of moods, all while feeling like a princess!
ANIMAL PRINT PIECE
Animal print is undeniably the biggest trend this Autumn and, from what we saw at Paris Fashion Week, it isn’t going anywhere. I really want to buy into this trend but I’m still deciding what piece I want to buy; has anyone got any recommendations?
PUFF SLEEVED JUMPER OR DRESS
I fell in love with this look that we saw at New York Fashion Week and I’d love to inject some of this 1980s, crossed with a dash of Victoriana, inspired style into my wardrobe next season. Potentially a puff sleeved jumper would be best before the warm weather kicks in and then a thinner, more typically Spring-like puff sleeved dress.
PLEATED MIDI SKIRT
Another fabulous trend that caught my eye in New York was the return of pleated midi skirts. I already own a pink satin pleated skirt, and I wore it to death last winter, but I’d love to invest in a few more colours and potentially a patterned one. They’re such classy, feminine pieces and so easy to dress up or down, depending on the occasion. I’ve particularly got my heart set on finding a wine coloured midi skirt as I think this will blend beautifully with my transitional wardrobe for those cooler Spring days.
PLASTIC RAINCOAT
Anticipating those notorious April showers I am hoping to invest in a chic patterned plastic raincoat, which we saw all over the catwalk in Milan. A cute floral print one would probably work best with my girly Spring wardrobe, and the plastic nature of it would mean that you’d be able to catch glimpses of my outfit through it; what more could you want?
FLORAL DRESSES
In true Chloe nature I am, of course, on the hunt for more floral dresses. I will be searching for some traditional light coloured floral dresses, as I usually do, but as we saw a lot of darker floral pieces on the catwalks, particularly in Paris, I will also be looking for some darker toned pieces.
GINGHAM DRESS
Gingham has such a vintage 50s feel to it and I’m so glad that it’s back in style next season, after we saw it all over the Parisian catwalks. Getting the right cut and pattern on a gingham dress makes all the difference though, as certain styles can look almost like a primary school summer dress, so I’ll have to really search for the perfect gingham dress.
BLAZERS
Blazers are always in style within the smart, work-wear sector of fashion, but next season it was hinted at in Paris and Milan that blazers will transition over into a more general trend for us ladies who want to look well put together, even if we’re not heading off to an office.
STRIPED TROUSERS
This seems like a rather bold trend for me to try out but every so often it is good to step out of your comfort zone, and challenge yourself to incorporate something into your wardrobe that you wouldn’t usually pick. Striped trousers, that we saw in New York, caught my eye and I can just picture myself wearing a pair of high waisted striped flares, potentially in a cute pastel colour, or monochrome, with an oversized jumper or even a blouse.
RUFFLED DRESS
Ruffled dresses were all the rage in London and Paris and I can definitely see why; they’re such a feminine and romantic trend and a great way to add a dramatic flare to a classic dress.
