How To Style: Suede Jacket

We may be moving towards summer, but I live in Britain, so naturally the weather is still antarctic. I’m forever dressing for the season, not the weather, so I’m always in need of a pretty, girly jacket to throw on over my shockingly non-weather appropriate outfit. A suede jacket is the perfect piece to add to your outfit to keep you warm, but not too hot, and to stop your outfit from reverting to a winter state, like it would if you added a winter coat.

I own a blush pink suede jacket (what other colour would I really have bought?), but there are so many beautiful colours available. I thought I’d share some of my top picks which are available right now, to fit everyone’s style.

These are all such pretty coloured suede jackets. The first blush one is incredibly similar to my Primark one, which unfortunately you can’t shop online, and I think blush looks so perfect with so many Spring looks. I usually style mine up with classic, girly pieces but I recently wore it with black jeans a lace top and the mix of girly and cool worked really well.

The second lighter pink jacket would also look perfect with how I styled up my blush jacket, with bright whites and pastels, but would also work perfect to add a contrast to a darker outfit, like with a darker, or black, dress.

The cream jacket would look great paired with floral Spring pieces, which are making a very big come back this season. Alternatively, combining it with a brightly coloured piece would work well as it would tone down the boldness of the outfit and keep it classy.

The grey jacket has a gorgeous waterfall detail on the chest; grey is a top colour in most people’s wardrobes and this would fit in seamlessly. I’d style it up with jeans and a nice light coloured blouse, preferably with grey accessories to tie it into the outfit.

Finally, this stunning teal coloured jacket is a gorgeous piece. It is such a statement piece and would look gorgeous styled up and down. Although it is more on the pricey side it is definitely worth the investment, as a piece this eye catching will totally transform an outfit and could become a signature piece.

I wore my blush jacket with a sweet summer dress for a classic, girly summer look. This dress is from Boohoo, shop it here, and is the perfect vintage inspired summer dress. This adds a very vintage touch to the suede jacket, and makes it look balanced so you can get your legs out. I also combined this jacket with a white lace top from H&M, shop it here, and blush culottes from Primark (not pictured). This was a more casual outfit but the jacket still tied in seamlessly.
