‘Don’t compare someone else’s final cut to your blooper reel’
In a world where social media means so much, especially to bloggers like me, it can be hard to stop it from taking over your life. It’s very easy to fall into a trap of obsession to do with likes and followers, which takes away from the true purpose of social media – for connecting with people and sharing what you love.
For me, blogging is a way to connect with like minded people and update people with similar tastes in fashion to me with pieces I love and trends I follow. It will never be about the amount of followers or likes I have. Of course, I appreciate every single follow and like, they make my blog more well known to spread my ideas further, but if I didn’t get them I’d still produce content.
Instead of focusing on how many likes a post gets, focus on the post itself. Does it represent you? If it doesn’t truly represent you and how you truly feel then don’t post it. If this is the case you are more than likely uploading it to impress others, in order to get likes, which isn’t right. Your content should be about you.
Don’t place all of your self worth on social media. Remind yourself daily that likes don’t really matter. Lots of things can bring down the amount of likes you get, the Instagram algorithm being a main one, and it’s more than likely not your fault if you don’t reach your target. Don’t stress over it. You are more important than likes. Instead focus on liking yourself!
Social media doesn’t define who you are as a person, so no matter how many likes you get use it as a positive platform. Use it for sharing positive, productive content on things you find interesting. Enjoy social media!
