My friends and family always laugh at me because I always go dressed to the airport as if I could possibly be heading to a fancy restaurant the minute I land. It’s not my fault I want to travel in style! I always feel very glamorous and confident at the airport, I’ve never really been able to explain why, but I want my outfit to match how I feel. Plus, the airport is probably the most likely place I’ll meet a celebrity, if I ever will, so I hardly want to be looking like a slob. This reason also makes my friends and family make fun of me but it’s true!
I usually tend to wear a dress or playsuit when travelling because I want my legs to be free; I suffer with really bad swelling in my ankles and feet whenever I travel so not restricting my legs is the best plan. For this trip to Portugal I decided to wear this dress as it’s comfortable and light enough to keep me cool when I arrive in my rather hot destination. The blue and white colour scheme is very bright and summery, and also reminds me of Europe! The white detail across the top adds something a little different which I really like.
I paired this dress with my favourite shoes of the moment – my suede brown sandals from New Look. I’m really sad that I can’t seem to find these online, I don’t know if they were an in store exclusive, but I’ll link some alternatives here and here. You can always pop into your local New Look and see if they’ve got a pair. I’m just in love with the tie ankle detail – it reminds me of ballet shoes and as a ballerina myself that makes me very happy. The heel height is small and perfectably wearable, which I put to the test on a long day travelling.
