I, for one, am a massive fan of the milkmaid trend that has been taking the fashion world by storm this spring, the cute farm girl style is so perfect for spring and summer with its ruffled and corset details. However, some of the ruffled and bustier aspects of it may feel like a little too much for everyday; even for me, who will over-dress for anything. This simple white top, featuring the square neckline and puff sleeves that are so reminiscent of the milkmaid style, is so much more wearable, and I’ve been loving styling it up this spring; you can also see me wearing it with jeans here.
The puff sleeves provide just the right amount of drama, without seeming too overboard, and the elbow length sleeves cut off at just the right point to add some flamboyance without looking silly. This is also one of the only tops I’ve ever found that has elastic around the arm, to hold the sleeves in place, that isn’t painful to the point that it feels like it’s stopping the blood flow, which makes it so comfortable to wear all day.
Square necks are ever so flattering, and I find that they give the illusion of a little cleavage, even if you’re rather flat chested like me. They’re also great tops to wear with a statement necklace, as the neckline almost frames the jewellery, and I love how it looks with my pearl jewellery. I’ve found some other cute, and affordable, square neck tops, which I’ve linked below. I especially love the teal blue one, which is actually the one I’m wearing, but in a different colour.
I was a little dubious when ordering this top from SheIn, as they are not exactly known for having incredibly high quality lined products, but this top isn’t see through in the slightest. I always wear a bra under it, just in case, but I was so impressed with the quality and thickness of this top, and if you wanted to you could go braless with this top.
White tops are such staple pieces in spring and summer; and although I have quite the collection, there’s always room for more! I may actually write a post all about my staple white tops, detailing all of my favourite styles and fabrics. If that’s something you’d like to see please let me know!
