Outfit Diaries – Leavers Prom

It’s been a little while since I’ve posted, and I’m not going to lie, I haven’t had the best time these past few weeks, but I’ve finally regained my blogging motivation and I’m back. What a way to resurface on here than by sharing some of the most gorgeous photos I’ve ever taken, my Year 13 prom photos. As most of you know, I’ve just finished school, and as a year group we celebrated with a glamorous prom, allowing us all to dress up in beautiful dresses and suave suits.

I decided on this stunning 1930s inspired gown from ASOS, as it is quite possibly the most gorgeous dress I’ve ever laid eyes on. It is adorned with intricate floral embroidery with leaf and bee details, which make the dress look incredibly high end and overflowing with vintage class. From the fluttered sleeves to cut out back detail and long flowing skirt, this dress just screams glamour and I felt like a 1930s Hollywood actress all night.

I paired this dress with a simple pair of white block heels which allowed for comfort, as the wide heel offered support, and they didn’t take away from the detail of the dress. These heels are from Boohoo and make for a staple pair of heels which can be paired with so many outfits; at £25 they’re a little more expensive than my classic Primark heels (a broke girl has to do what a broke girl has to do!) but their price per wear is honestly priceless. I wear these heels all summer long!

As a result of attending a recent BrumBloggers event I received a complementary Smashbox makeover in their Birmingham store and decided to use this to make myself look incredibly glam for prom. I had my makeup done by a beautiful MUA called Martina, who’s also a blogger and YouTuber, and she transformed me into a princess. She really listened to me when I described how I liked my makeup for occasions, glamorous but still semi-natural, and perfectly created the image I had in my mind. My makeup stayed put all night (until I got home at 5am!) so I’m definitely going to be looking into purchasing some Smashbox products.

My hair, a classic up-do, was actually created by my mom and I! I created a side parting from the front of my head, which added volume as it contrasted my natural middle parting, and french plaited my hair on either side round to the back of my head. I then gathered all of my hair into a ponytail and added a hair ‘doughnut’ to add volume to the bun I was about to create. Once I’d loosely secured the bun I then got my mom to take fairly thin sections of my hair and twirl it up into tight curls pressed into the bun. After doing this to all the hair I added hairspray and shine spray to complete the look!

Are you guys attending your prom this year? If you are I’d love to see your dresses; tweet me at @chloececiliax! If you’ve moved on since prom what was your dress like? Old and embarrassing prom photos are even better! I can’t wait to see you all.

Love Chloe x

You look like an angel 😍 I love the colour and style of dress on you, in fact, I love your entire look. You’re bloody beautiful! I wish I had a year 13 prom to compensate for the year 11 prom I never went to but I’ll get the chance to dress up for uni balls hopefully 🤞🏾
