How I Manage School And My Blog

I’m currently in my final year of sixth form (the last year of schooling in Britain) and of course the work is tough. I do subjects that require an awful lot of work, especially textiles which is mainly coursework based, and I often receive the question, ‘how do you fit your blog in?!’.

Well, if I’m honest, it isn’t easy. Now that I’m back into the swing of things with school, after school clubs and homework I have hardly any free time; and if I do I want to spend it lying down doing nothing because I’m just so exhausted! Sometimes it can be hard to motivate myself to have the get up and go that’s required to work on a project that’s entirely self ran. If I don’t post there’s no one I can turn to who will do it for me, I just have to do it myself, which can be hard to maintain.

Honestly, the biggest tip I have for managing both school and a blog is to not force yourself to be motivated. There will always be days where you don’t want to blog or you’re simply far too tired to plan out a post. Running a blog is very time consuming and you shouldn’t punish/pressure yourself for not meeting its demands sometimes! However, do use the times when you are motivated to the best of their ability – if you feel motivated then plan out as many blog posts as possible. That way, when it’s a day that you’re not feeling quite so on top of things you’ll have an idea to write about or a draft ready to publish. Forcing yourself to do something won’t let you create impressive content as it will feel rushed and forced, so take advantage of the times where you feel inspired.

Don’t be too hard on yourself, your blog is important but it isn’t the end of the world if you don’t post strictly to your post schedule. No one is going to punish you or unfollow you at a drop of a hat! Love yourself and your blog.
