How I Embrace My Pale Skin

DSCF1530

I’m one of those people who is almost always the lightest shade of foundation, who can look washed out even in white and gets burnt to a crisp the minute I step one foot out in sunshine. I’m as pale as can be and in a society where having a tan is so glorified it’s often hard to remember that my pale skin is beautiful too.

When it comes to your skin tone it is something that is a very big (and very noticeable) part of your identity. It shares a little about who you are and where you’ve come from, so why shouldn’t you be proud of it? For me, my pale skin comes from British and Irish roots, which I’m very proud of, so I shouldn’t be scared to show it off.

People seem to think that being pale makes you look ill but I definitely disagree. Being pale actually makes me look a little better, I think, as it defines my eyes and shows a contrast between my skin and my dark eyelashes.

I thought I’d share this post as I’m including photos of me on the beach where usually other bloggers are impossibly tanned and most of them seem to even manage to have no tan lines (how? Just how?!). You shouldn’t be afraid to post holiday photos if you’re not majorly bronzed; your tan doesn’t define your holiday! This gorgeous swimsuit is actually from Primark so I can’t link it but I’ve found similar alternatives here and here. My hat is from Aldi and also isn’t shoppable (I’m really sorry!) but I’ve found a beautiful alternative here (this is also down to just £10!).

Please remember that in this post I am in no way saying that pale skin is more beautiful than any other skin tone. From pale, lily white skin to the deepest, darkest shade every single one of you is absolutely beautiful – this post is simply an appreciation of my personal beauty in an effort to boost self confidence and remind other people like me that they’re beautiful. If you do find any of this post offensive please let me know and I’ll amend it immediately!
