No. No. And no again. Having a bikini body doesn’t mean having an unhealthily thin or overworked ‘fitspo’ style body. I’m sure you’ve heard it said online that the quickest way to get a bikini body is to simply put a bikini on your body and I’m here to second that. You have a body don’t you? All you have to do is put a bikini on and voila. You have a bikini body.
In the world we live in where the media is constantly forcing a skewed view of perfection on us it can be incredibly hard to accept our own bodies as beautiful. Summer can be a hard time as we are practically expected to wear a bikini or swimming costume and most people aren’t that comfortable with showing off their body like that. I’m no different, I’m not a huge fan of my body and wearing a bikini seems like a very daunting task. I’m constantly worrying about what I look like in it when really there’s no point.
My body is beautiful because it’s mine. Your body is beautiful because it’s yours. We are made to be our kind of beautiful and comparing ourselves to others, especially when we’re as exposed as we are in swimwear, is never good. Accepting yourself as beautiful is one of the best things you can ever do, so embrace your bikini body. Show off your curves, your stretchmarks, your freckles, your scars, your moles, your birthmarks; we all have imperfections so why not embrace them. Wearing a bikini is actually the best way to showcase the little things that make you you. So next time you look at yourself in a bikini and don’t like what you see, don’t get upset, think instead of all the beautiful little imperfections about your body which are finally being shown to the world. Embrace your beauty.
